Katy + Matt

October 26, 2019

Katy and Matt had a rainy wedding day [like, sideways, we tried to go outside but it was way too windy type of rain] on a Saturday afternoon. But the weather didn’t stop their fun or my exploration for image making.

On a personal note, this wedding is a perfect example of making sure you hire someone that knows how to work alternative lighting [it was very dark everywhere]. and also how to work with small spaces. I’ve shot numerous weddings at Blissful Barn, and I LOVE their space, but it is a bit more challenging to get all indoor shots for groups in there when there are quite a bit of guests [particularly when it is raining]. So I problem solved a lot during this day, but it ended up being so beautiful.
Some decisions I made were to produce the best images I could for these two, meaning, getting faces, using flashes [even when the trend is to use natural light], and gathering all of the documentation I could. This mattered to me. Maybe I can’t control the weather and produce ‘trendy’ images, but I can make art, capture important people, details and feelings that exist in real time, and represent the day as it was happening.

The love between these two and their two beautiful gals is incredible. It was my mission to document Len dancing and twirling on the dance floor, or Katy really loving on Marley. I had a blast being a part of their day.
ANNDDD here are too many images to prove it.
