I spent the most beautiful Saturday with this family. I photographed Emily, Ian’s Sister, and her journey with her spouse, and then got to photograph her family and a new journey too. Coming to this wedding felt like family.

Ian and Riley are some of the sweetest individuals I have met. From their engagement, to the wedding, I have loved every moment. This wedding included the cutest flower grandma’s, a laid back environment, and just a lot of party.

Aging in this industry has been a joy, but not just for growing my art, or photographing and meeting people, but realizing just how important true documentation is. When I began photographing I wanted all of the ‘pretty,’ I wanted the ‘viral post’ aesthetic. But as I age, I gain perspective and truth. I seek out moments, hugs, laughter, and try to be ready and predict feelings to capture rather than react to them. This year I really slowed down on my amount of weddings I have taken, and that has really allowed me to focus on these true moments that really do matter. I started to have more fun with my bridal parties, take the time to stage grandma’s doing fun things with their grand children [this wedding we flew flowers together haha], and really feel the space I am in. So thank you, Ian and Riley, for letting me capture and tell your story in images <3
